Today we had a stall at the Baby and Kids Market. We sold a bit but came home with a heap! The market itself was the first ever boys only market and it was pretty dead compared to a normal market, so it was a bit disappointing.

Today we went to the Races to celebrate my brother Paul's 30th birthday on the 19th. It was actually my mother's birthday today but forgot to get a photo of her.

Ok, so I've spent all night cooking and baking for my brother's birthday gathering tomorrow at the races, I even got Danny to bring a TV into the kitchen so I could watch the footy at the same time.

My brother's girlfriend passed on a recipe for mud balls - they are to die for!! So as much as I love them, I thought it would be interesting to give them a different spin and put peppermint in mine.

What you see here is the leftover chocolate used to dip them in because if I left them out of the fridge to take a photo they would have melted on me.

Oh and boy they were good!!

POTD 2nd April 2010 - Good Friday Festivities

Today is Good Friday and it brings with it an old and new family tradition.

Good Friday is the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, which leaves from Shorncliffe. Growing up, my father and his family would gather on the Sandgate foreshore to watch the boats sail off across moreton bay and have a picinic.

This tradition continued when I was growing up and we have continued to it with our children. These days we tend to miss the boats as we are participating in what has become a new family tradition.

Danny's mum works at the local Freemason's home. Every Easter they have "Henny Penny Chicken Hatchlings" Danny's mum does the morning shift, so since having the kids, every Good Friday we head up to Freemason's near knock-off time to see the chickens. Danny's mum get's to show the grandkids off to her residents (they love it when little ones come in) and the kids get to hold a little chick.

My little Chicken is feeling better. How do I know? I got a smile today, haven't seen one of those for a couple of days. The best I could do I'm afraid, been busy looking after little chicken and making sure she is on the mend.

POTD 30th March 2010 - RCH - Back again

So we went back to the Children's today to check on how Chicken was going. I noticed she was sounding better and so did the Doctor. The results came back on the snot sample (for want of a better word) and she has Broncilitus (sp?)

Basically, it's viral and the only thing we can do for her is to clear her nose and try and dry it up with some saline drops. Normally lasts for about 7 days, the worst being around day 3 and 4 so we are on the mend.

Today's photo was taken on my mobile phone, it's the curtain of our cubicle - Room 5, the same one we were in yesterday.

POTD 29th March 2010 - Sick Little Chicken

Overnight little chicken got worse, Very snotty, Very crackly so at 6:30am we decided to head up to the Royal Children's Hospital. We were there for about 5 hours, seen straight away and the staff were wonderful. They sucked out the garbage from her nose and sent it off to be tested.

She slept for a good 3 hours, mainly why were were there for so long. Needless to say there wasn't time for a decent shot today.

POTD 27th March 2010 - Wonder Guy Man and Bat Girl

Today was Danny's softball trophy night. We always have a fancy dress and this time the theme was "Heroes and Villans" We normally put a lot of effort into our costumes but got tired of being some of the few who actually make a good effort.

So this year, I didn't dress up but Danny decided to keep it simple. He "dressed" as "Wonder Guy Man!" You know the one - the guy from the Libra Invisible Pad ad.

Kae wouldn't sit still long enough for a photo, he was Super Kae.

Now what do you dress a 4 month old in I hear you say? Well Olivia just happened to fit into Kaelan's old Batman suit so she was BatGirl, complete with rippling abs!! I had to put something in her hair to balance out the manliness of the outfit lol.

Today we went over to my parents house for a visit. Kae decided he wanted to get the mail out of the letter box and tripped and grazed his knee on the driveway.

POTD 18th March 2010 - Waiting for the pretty birdies

Last time we visited Currumbin Wildlife Sanctary we missed the bird feeding, so this time we made sure we made it!!

There weren't very many birds around so we were waiting for a while. Once a few decided to come to us, Kae tried to pat them.
